Brittany Devane is a sports anchor, reporter, and producer currently working at WRGB CBS-6 in Albany, New York. She helped launch “Upstate Sports Edge,” a half an hour, hyper-local sports show airing weekdays on the CW. She loves the challenge of finding new, unique, and compelling stories to tell every single day. She knows the Capital Region is a hotbed of sports-related stories just waiting to be told, and has been so impressed with the drive, passion, and perseverance of the residents she has met so far!
While she has a knack for live reporting, she also enjoys going beyond the headlines for features and commentary that advance the events of game day.
Prior to arriving in Albany, Brittany worked the sports reporter and weekend anchor for sister stations WVII ABC-7 and WFVX FOX-22 in Bangor, Maine. She was also the sideline reporter for University of Maine football and Husson University football and basketball teams. During her three years in Bangor, Brittany covered everything from Eastern Maine’s local high school sports to Black Bear athletics, even Boston’s professional teams.
Not only can she anchor and report, Brittany can also shoot, write, edit, and produce. She is active on social media, engaging with viewers and fellow sports fans.
Brittany graduated cum laude from Boston University in 2012 with a degree in Journalism. There, she was active with BUTV 10 as a reporter and anchor of Terrier Nation, a sports magazine-style show, and Sports Wire, a headline-driven morning production.
Brittany spent the summer of 2012 in London covering the Olympic Games for an online media company in Massachusetts. She also spent a year as an intern for NESN, assisting in productions of Bruins broadcasts and Hockey East games all over the city — from the TD Garden to Conte Forum, and even Fenway Park. She also spent a summer interning for WCVB’s Chronicle, where she eventually took on producing responsibilities for a segment of a “My Boston” episode.
Brittany was brought up in a family of passionate sports fans, and that’s where her journey began. “Who’s daddy’s favorite basketball player?” her father used to quiz her. “Larry Bird!” “Who’s daddy’s favorite hockey player?” “Bobby Orr!” From as far back as she can remember sports were a huge part of her life (although she is not claiming any substantial athletic ability). Born and raised right outside the City of Champions, she’s a firm believer that that dirty water is even better when it’s frozen.
